Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation is normally conferred once a year at the beginning of the Summer Half by the Bishop of Northampton. Whilst boys may be confirmed during any year of their education at Eton, the majority of boys choose to be confirmed in E Block with some also choosing to be confirmed in D Block.

Boys are told about the arrangements for Confirmation immediately at the start of the Michaelmas Half. If they are interested in being confirmed they are then asked to discuss the matter further with their parents. The names of those wishing to be confirmed will be taken by Father Ian.

Preparation for Confirmation runs through the Michaelmas and Lent Halfs and concludes with a one day retreat for the Confirmandi shortly prior to the Confirmation Mass

One boy’s story of the entire experience can be read here.
